Benefit They’re Real! Mascara £18.50 @ most retailers

Since my Diorshow Black Out Mascara ran out well over three years ago I’ve jumped from mascara to mascara trying to find a cheaper alternative. I’ve tried most on the high street but they tend to clump (the closest I came to was L’oreal’s Telescopic mascara but it dried out so fast!), I’ve tried most from MAC but they ran too easy and this was also the problem with Bad Gal also from Benefit. I’d almost given up hope and was just about to spend the £23 on Diorshow when I started to see rave reviews about Benefit’s new mascara They’re Real! They all seemed to say how great it was so I decided to invest.

It does have a bit of a hefty price tag (only £4.50 less than Diorshow) but I had a voucher from Boots to give me £4.00 worth of points for buying a mascara and since I’m saving to buy myself some new perfume it made it more worth while. However since using it i’d not need any incentive to buy it again!

On the Benefit website it claims

they’re real! lengthens, curls, volumises, lifts & separates. Our jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!

What else you need to know:
94% saw dramatic length & volume**
90% saw base-to-tip curl**
94% saw visible lift**
100% saw long-wearing results**

And you know what? For once it lives 100% up to the hype.

I have quite short light brown lashes, they don’t particularly stand out especially when I wear eyeliner and eyeshadow but with They’re Real they stand out and never clump together. From googling images of the effects of the mascara I was worried I’d have very false looking lashes but when I use it I just get a very natural effect which is important for me. If I wanted false lashes, I’d wear them and they would not be suitable for work! I’m a tear drop, I cry at the drop of the hat and I have allergies so using a waterproof mascara is VITAL for me otherwise I’d have panda eyes all day every day. So far this mascara has stayed fast through sneezing fits and tears at ‘The Paradise’ finale.

Here is the customary photo of usage. I apologise for the fact I haven’t had my eyebrows done in a while, I just haven’t had time since going back to work!

I honestly have no complaints about this mascara and urge anyone to invest in it if they need a good mascara. This mascara is so good that I don’t even bother with eyeliner on my waterline these day as it takes away from how much my lashes stand out!

I am going to have to check this out! I have the exact same problem with mascara and I still can’t find one I am totally happy with! Maybe this is it?!

Ooh this is on my Xmas list – I love trying new mascaras, my eyes are eternally watering [cheers cat hair allergy..!] so a good waterproof is important to me too, can’t awit to try it 🙂

Hope you get it for Christmas because it really is great! I have a dust allergy so you can imagine how often I sneeze as it’s impossible to get rid of :p
