#61 Recipe No.6 Tarte Flambée

I hate Saturdays, I think I must be the only one who does (please speak up if you hate it too!) In fact I just really dislike weekends. Our little house isn’t big enough to fit all these people in at the weekend and we are all constantly on top of one another. Sometimes, it’s lovely. We’re planning on all going out for dinner for Mothers Day as there are three mothers in our house and none of us want to cook, so I’m sure that’ll be a nice weekend (I’m also meeting a friend in the city on the Saturday AND it’s a week before my birthday).. so I guess it’s not all bad. This weekend however.. urgh..
I DID have a good time with my little girl today, she’s so sweet and clever. I often feel very smug taking her out as she’s so well behaved for a one year old. I have been told this will change but at the moment it’s great. I’m so proud that she’s my little girl.
So today I have to share with you another delicious recipe from The Little Paris Kitchen. This has become a favourite in our house, we’ve had it three time this weeks! It’s not amazingly healthy but I have swapped some of the ingredients to make it a bit better… and it obviously works as this week I made it to my target weight! I am now officially 9 Stone! I plan on losing a bit more to give me some room to eat loads of rubbish and drink some cocktails over my birthday next month.
Anyway, the recipe is for a Tarte Flambée. I’m sure it’s more of a summer recipe, but my mum and I have decided eating it reminds us of summer! So in case anyone is in need of some summer memories, I urge you to give this a go!

Ingredients
Puff Pastry
1/3 Red Onion
4 Bacon Medallions
3 Tbsp Low/Half Fat Crème fraîch
Tsp Thyme (dry or fresh)
What You Need
Baking Tray, Table Spoon, Tea Spoon, Greaseproof Paper, Knife, Chopping Board
  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees or gas mark 6. Then line the baking tray with grease proof paper.
  2. Roll out (or cut to size) the puff pastry and place it into the lined baking tray.
  3. Spread the three table spoons of  crème fraîch over the puff pastry.
  4. Chop up the onion and bacon, then scatter over the tart.
  5. Sprinkle on the thyme and pop into the oven for 20-30 minutes.
  6. This can be eaten hot or cold (I’ve tried both and they are delicious). Serve with a green salad.
Another delicious lunch time treat. When dieting, lunch is always the meal I struggle with! Breakfast is usually easy with a bowl of special K, yoghurt or cereal bar and dinner is easy too as I can cook for more people.. but lunch.. I get so bored of sandwiches or soup all the time that I need to have something different and this is so easy! Let me know if you try it.

That does look yummy! Well done foreaching your target weight, big pat on the back for you my dear!

Living closely together with your folks can be hard going, I can completely relate to that. I find it hard sometimes and we’re next door to one another rather than in the same house! Head down and count to ten works for me!

So lovely that you’re proud of your little girl. Ignore people who say good behaviour doesn’t last! My oldest still behaves like a sweetie when we’re out, and I too love the smug Mummy feeling. If your wee one is being a little angel it’s down to your good parenting and that’s not going to change so why should she?! Feel very proud, you deserve to!

    Lots of love,
    Kate xx

I go for the walk away approach but sometimes the shout it out thing works too. Especially if my dad is in the right mood. Had another run in today though and I’m more angry than ever! Never mind.

Thank you, it’s so nice having fellow mums who follow my blog for reassurance! I am so proud of her, she’s a little star!

This look absolutely delicious I’m going to have to make it! I’m not even a huge fan of Bacon but I’m willing to eat it in this! Haha.
As for weekends I hate Saturdays too, we usually have a house full or I see my younger sisters, one of which is the devil I swear! Haha and its always cramped and noisy and when it’s not my mother is just driving me up the wall. Haha Saturdays just seem pointless unless something special is happening.
    Hope you’re having a good weekend 🙂

Yeah I agree, unless we’re doing something as a family at the weekend I hate them. I guess it’s probably a lot to do with the fact i’ve always worked Saturdays since I was 15 so I haven’t had to deal with them in a longggg time haha!

Ooo this looks absolutely yummy! I can’t wait to get round to trying her recipes.
I feel your pain about living all on one house, it’s exactly like it here and I first it was ok but now it’s just getting more uncomfortable as the youngest gets bigger and my eldest can’t have friends round in case anyone breaks anything that my partner’s mum has. Doesn’t help she refuses to remove the glass and easy to smash stuff from child height.
You’re little girl is beautiful, wait til she gets to nursery and has a new boyfriend everyday, that’s when the fun starts.
