Today is the first day I have really felt that winter is on it’s way! I’m still ill so I haven’t actually changed out of my pjs and dressing gown but I have had the fire on this morning after Little Miss got out the bath. I now have a blanket on my bed and Little Miss is back to wearing a long sleep vest under her clothes, a sure sign the cold weather is here. I’m a little bit disappointed we haven’t had any form of an Indian Summer this year but at least there is no confusing with what season it is! I’ve already made my first pan of soup of the season so watch out for the recipe later on this week on Cocktails in Teacups.
One of my favourite things to shop for when it comes to Autumn is my new winter coat. Yeah last years coats are still all wearable but it wouldn’t be winter without a new coat. Usually I go for the dufflr style, or even a swing coat but after having Hayley to visit this week and seeing her all kitted out in her coat and scarf, I’ve decided this year I’d like a parka. Knowing her parka came from Dorothy Perkins, I decided I’d go for one from New Look as their clothes is generally within my small budget.
Parka’s come in two styles, jackets or coats. They also come in so many different styles from long to roll sleeves, with or without hoods. Some are lined, some are light weight so essentially if you’re into your parka style you can have one for both the winter or the summer. They also come in full coat length or short jacket length. Then of course we have the colours, you can have the standard khaki or black or navy or beige. The choice is endless.
With going to Paris at the end of next month my only preference is for it come with a hood. Knowing my luck it’ll rain at least one day I’m away!
These are the two I’ve narrowed it down to;
I love the fur lined hoods, yes they’re not exactly great in the rain but I personally think they add a more feminine touch to quite a grungy style and if I’m honest that’s what I go for come autumn/winter for example my lace and floral dresses teamed with a pair of grungy boots. I love the style of the khaki one with the pockets but I think the navy one will be better at hiding sticky finger marks.They both look incredibly warm which is a plus. I think parka’s are fabulous coats for facing all the elements because lets face the truth here, who knows what kind of winter we’re facing this year in Britain! New Look has a great range of parkas to suit all kinds of styles and weathers.
What kind of winter coat do you usually go for?
