The Body Shop Coconut Body Scrub Review

A few weeks ago I was asked if I’d like to review a product from The Body Shop. I jumped at the chance as I’m sure by now you know I’m a fan of their products, in particular the body butters (but then again, who isn’t?!) The product I received was the Coconut Body Scrub* which I was pretty pleased with. I’ve only just started to use coconut products again after years of abstinence due to drinking too much Malibu in my teens, the smell made me queasy. That was until I started to use the moisturising Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner, the one in the blue bottle. It smells DIVINE and everyone always comments on how nice my hair smells when I use it. So this scrub was a welcomed addition to my shower routine.
If you remember in my Scrub a Dub Dub post, I mentioned I liked to use a scrub in the shower, particularly in the morning to help improve circulation and get rid of any dead skin. The coconut body scrub arrived just in time as I’d finished my current scrub and was about to start a new one. I popped this straight into the bathroom (after i’d photographed it of course) and looked forward to my next shower.

On first impressions the smell of this is very very strong, in fact it’s so strong I swore I could smell alcohol in it, but I think this is just down to my Malibu aversion. HOWEVER in the shower once I started to use it, it started to remind me of suncream, and that’s a scent I do like, in fact I love the smell of suncream which is exactly what it smelt like mixed in with the humidity in the shower. The texture is quite creamy but also gritty which of course is important for a scrub. I use my hand to scoop some out and apply to my skin. You don’t seem to need much because it applies easily to damp skin. Then I used my ol’ faithful The Body Shop body brush that I bought from the NE Body Shop event back in April, to buff it off. Afterwards my skin felt so soft and the smell did linger, however it made me desperately want to go on holiday to somewhere hot!
I would recommend this product because of how easy it is to get it out the jar and apply to the skin even in a shower, it smells great and does the job it’s supposed to. I think it would be a fantastic addition to the holiday wash bag to get rid of any peeling skin. It definitely has that holiday smell about it!
You should check The Body Shop out online as they always have FANTASTIC offers on and there is currently a sale on if you’re looking for Christmas shopping ideas.
Have you tried anything from the coconut range at The Body Shop? What would you recommend?
