Reads for the Weekend // Thirteen

Oh how I hate the number thirteen with a firey passion. I try not to be superstitious but thirteen is just a bad number for me. My daughters father was born on the thirteenth and it was his lucky number. And 2013 has been the year from hell. My staircase even has thirteen steps and when I’m counting up or down with Little Miss I always skip saying that one. But here we are on my thirteenth Reads for the Weekend. I’ve missed a few weeks due to Paris, having a friend to stay and then being unwell. I’m trying to force myself to keep on track of different projects I have going on in my blog but it’s difficult when I have so much to write about. I tried to keep a list of what I wanted to write and when but I found I really didn’t like the structure. I like to be able to write about what I want and when I want. It’s my blog after all.
Anyway, I’m rambling.
This week has been pretty uneventful for me. I sat an exam on Monday and passed with 100% which was quite impressive. I also put Little Miss in her big bed and so far she’s been an angel! I wish she was of an age where she understood a reward chart because she would definitely be rewarded this week with some form of treat! I’m so proud of her. Apart from that, nothing much else has happened. Living the quiet life for the rest of November because from the 30th.. things start getting really crazy but I am looking forward to it. For the first time in 2 years I’m really looking forward to the festive season.
Moving on before I bore you all to death!
I hope you enjoy looking through the posts i’m sharing today as much as I did.
On Saturday Lauren blogged about her first wedding anniversary on her blog Belle du Brighton. It really made realise how quickly this year has flown because I started following Lauren’s blog just after her wedding! Her post is a lovely recap of everything that happened since her wedding last year. On Sunday she posted a collection of photos from her wedding, she was such a beautiful bride!

Earlier on the in the week Rhiannon of The Sparkly Panda posted a recipe I’m just dying to try for Gingerbread Cupcakes with Toffee Icing! I love baking for friends and family at Christmas and this will be one recipe I’ll be having a go of in the coming weeks!

My favourite online boutique, Scarlett Fashion, turned one this week! Karen shared the event she held at the shop on her store blog, it was really nice to see what the actual store looks like as I’m so used to seeing the online page! The Sugarhill Boutique stuff looks as beautiful as ever!

Over on my favourite book review blog, Book Odyssey, Jenna shared her review for one of my all time favourite books, A Little Princess by Francis Hodgson Burnett. This is probably one of the books i’ve read more times than I can count. It’s beautiful and I cannot wait to read it to Little Miss.

I’m sure by now you’ll recognise Ashleigh’s blog 25 to 30 as it crops up so often on my blog, ha! But once again she posted something that I really enjoyed this week. She’s a year into her 25 to 30 project and this weeks Ashleigh updates us on everything that happened in the last year. Such a lovely read!

I loved (Cider With) Sophie‘s post this week about homemade Christmas decorations! I honestly wish I was more crafty so I could make my own Christmas decorations. The one she posted about were adorable, I especially loved the felt Christmas puddings.

On A Bit of This and That, Clare blogged about a dupe for Hang Up which is one of my current favourite MAC lipsticks. I wore it all over Paris when I went a few weeks back and i’ve been addicted to wearing it ever since! Head over to her blog to see what it is.

Finally, one of my favourite blogs Polkadot Pink turned one this week. Donna shares a selection of her favourite posts from her first year as a blogger. Here’s to more fantastic posts next year from you Donna!

And we’re done, hope you all enjoy my recommended reads!
