Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil in Ozone Review

Welcome to my first beauty review of 2014! As I mentioned back in my Public Service Announcement of Sorts post way back in September, I’m going to try and do at least one review a week. This helps me keep on top of all the awesome (or not so awesome) products I want to share with you. Today I’m talking about the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide of Lip Pencil in Ozone.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil in Ozone RRP £13, Debenhams
I have always been an advocate of wearing lip liner with lipstick. It really helps limit feathering, makes your lips look fuller and acts as a primer, so really, why wouldn’t you wear liner? However, buying lip liner to match every lipstick and gloss you own can get expensive, especially when you’re a beauty blogger and own a lot of lipsticks in every colour under the sun! So I’m pretty sure you could imagine my excitement when last year I discovered something called invisible lip liner! Despite being an amazing invention in my opinion, they’re actually really hard to come by. I know Lipstick Queen do one as that was the first ever one I bought, I also have had one off of eBay by Sally Hansan and now I’m trying the Urban Decay one.
I’m a big fan of Urban Decay, I really love their eye shadows and eyeliners but I’ll have to hold my hands up and say in the past I really haven’t been a fan of their lip colours. I say in the past because since trying this lip liner I feel ready to give them a go again.
Despite looking white, Ozone applies completely clear so you can use it with any colour of lipstick. I apply it around my lip outline and then fill my lips in so it will do it’s bit as a primer. I then apply my colour on top. It doesn’t make the colour stay any longer than it would without the liner, but it does completely reduce feathering even while eating and drinking. It also makes my lips look fuller than they do without the lip liner and because the pencil is also acting like a primer my lips don’t end up stained at the end of the day. The best thing in my opinion is the fact if you use it as a primer with matte lipsticks it does reduce the drying out, which for someone who suffers from chapped lips like I do, is a big deal!
My only problem with Ozone is due to it being clear it’s difficult to tell where you’ve applied it which isn’t so much of a problem when simply outlining but if you choose to use it as a primer it’s hard to tell when your lips are completely covered as it dries quickly and doesn’t leave that slick finish like gloss. Of course this a minor problem.
Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil in Ozone is available at Debenhams and retails for £13. However they often have 10% off Beauty & Fragrance (like when I bought it) bringing it down to £11.70. It’s a staple for my make up bag and is great for when I’m going away as I only need to take one pencil with my 5 or so lipsticks!
Do you use lip liner with your lipsticks? Have you tried an invisible one?
