Agent Provocateur Maitresse Eau Provocateur Review

Maitresse Eau Provocateur * Harvey Nichols
Sometimes I can’t believe how lucky I am as far as my blog is concerned. A couple of weeks ago when I was asked to review an Agent Provocateur perfume I was overjoyed! Although I am a devout Marc Jacobs girl I can’t feel that sometimes they’re a little bit, girlish. I’ve always associated Agent Provocateur as a more woman brand, and a brand I have always wanted to try.
When this beautifully packaged parcel arrived on my doorstep, I couldn’t of been more overjoyed. After making my way through the tissue paper I instantly opened the box for a sniff. Usually I never buy a perfume without having a smell but from the description of this perfume I was 100% sure I’d love it. Thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed.
Provocative and enigmatic, this modern interpretation of Maitresse will leave you wanting more. Here lie fragrant accords of Rose, Jasmin Sambac and Iris with delightfully light, green notes of Acacia (a thorny shrub). A green note of Granny Smith Apples makes this lingering scent so fresh and floral. A delectable base of Amber, Sandalwood, Tonka and gourmande elements complete this floral feast.” – Credit
I have to admit, I was sold at Granny Smith apples. But don’t think for an instance that this smells like other apple-y scents such as that Nina Ricci one or the DKNY one. The apple scent is very subtle and over all I find this perfume much more floral than fruity, which is why I’m completely sold. It smells grown up, slightly musky and my sister even described it as a “sexy scent” which is something I would never buy for myself. It’s definitely a valentines perfume and it’s definitely a more grown up scent than I’m used to, but I love it.
I like the bottle as well, the colour is beautiful and it really does look great on my dressing table. The only thing is it doesn’t come with a lid, instead there is a little gold clip around the top which stops the perfume being accidentally sprayed (great for me with a toddler on the loose) although personally I’d prefer a lid. This is such a small niggle though and I’m sure some people prefer this. The little ribbon is also a nice touch. Very elegant.
Harvey Nichols have a wonderful selection of perfume and beauty products. It’s always my first port of call when I’m in Edinburgh as I adore the beauty hall (and food hall, i’m not going to lie). It’s one of my favourite department stores as there are some wonderful hidden gems.
