Outfit of the Day – She Made Herself Stronger by Fighting with the Wind

  – The Secret Garden by Francis Hodgson Burnett

I’m not sure 100% why I’m doing an outfit of the day after my one last week was so badly received! But this dress really was too beautiful not to share with you all. And the fact that I just found out today I’m going to be going somewhere to wear it to! I never get invited anywhere that dressing up in nice clothes is required so I was pretty excited to be invited to a wedding reception next month and I know that night I definitely won’t have time to take outfit photos!

Secret Garden Dress* £49.95, Joe Browns
Book Shaped Clutch (bought from Ellie at Pretty Much Penniless), ASOS
Shoe Boots (ancient, bought from eBay), Dorothy Perkins
Amethyst Ring, Inheritance from Grandmother
A few weeks back I was contacted (like a few of my other favourite bloggers) by the brand Joe Browns. Unlike a lot of them, I am very familiar with Joe Browns and in the past I have purchased a lot from them, for myself and for a boyfriend I once had as it was very much his style. I have always found their items very good quality, a little bit on the quirky side and pretty good value for money, especially if you won’t something that will last more than a couple of washes. So of course when I got offered to review something it didn’t take me too long to settle on something. I went for this absolutely gorgeous 50s cut dress, aptly named as it makes me think of garden parties, the Secret Garden dress. I love the fit of it, and the quality is much better than I’m used to these days. It’s perfect for summer, especially if you need something to wear to a wedding. In fact there are loads of gorgeous dresses that would be perfect for wedding receptions currently available on the site, so if you want something a bit different from your high street shops, I’d definitely recommend it.
Since the pattern of the dress is so busy I have kept everything else simple. The shoe boots I actually bought for Bee’s murder mystery the other week, I won them for a fiver on eBay. But how beautiful is this bag? I actually lusted after a book shaped bag last year when Ellie posted about her search for a bag for her wedding day so when I saw that she was selling I jumped at the chance to buy it as it sold out quickly on ASOS. Finally, the ring is what I inherited from my grandmother. It has a real amethyst in and real diamonds, it’s so beautiful but I rarely wear it for fear of loosing it. It goes perfectly with this outfit.
Have you ever shopped at Joe Browns?
