I go on holiday next month, yes.. NEXT MONTH! I’ve already slipped into holiday panic mode, something that usually doesn’t descend until the week before going but since this time around I have so much to think about and I haven’t gone on holiday for this long since I was 19 AND I have Little Miss and her stay-cation to think about, I know I need to get my butt into gear and get organised. I’m away for 10 days touring the US and it’s a dream come true and all thanks to Travel Supermarket and my Holiday Postcards entry.
I only have two things left to book, tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway and my bus from DC to NYC which I’m hoping to do in the next few weeks. However at the moment my lovely new suitcase is looking kinda empty! Yes, I finally invested in a new suitcase with FOUR wheels, as I’ve been using the same one since 2006 and one of the wheels had practically come off. Anyway, I’m on a tangent, yes the contents of my suitcase.. this has inspired this Wednesday Wishlist, my holiday shopping wishlist. Here are a collection of things I’d love to purchase to take on holiday with me. Whether I will be able to afford them in time is another thing though.. Broadway tickets aren’t exactly cheap!
Beginning with clothes. I am one of these people that likes to have lovely new clothes to wear on holiday. I guess it came from going on holiday with my parents who could afford to kit my sister and I as well as themselves out in all new clobber before going away. Nowadays this rarely happens and I have to choose a couple of new pieces I’d really love to wear. Truffle Shuffle‘s stock is awesome at the moment, I did spend at least an hour browsing and as much as I wanted to add a ton of Disney Couture onto this list, I know I don’t really need new jewellery for a holiday, however I have selected an awesome The Little Mermaid t-shirt (RRP £27.99) as the colour would go great with my Ariel red hair. I do love t-shirts to travel in, especially on a long haul flight. I only own one pair of shorts and as it’ll no doubt be rather hot, I feel like I should invest in another pair. As I don’t like my butt cheeks hanging out, I adore boyfriend fit shorts, like the Light Blue Denim (RRP £17.99) pair from New Look. I’m actually really loving New Look for summer clothes at the moment, I could have chosen enough pieces for the whole 10 days from there and they currently have 25% off a lot of summer holiday clothing and accessories! Two of the nights I’m actually sharing a hotel room in Toronto with two friends so although I’m taking THOSE Ariel short pjs, they’re not practical for wearing around friends so I’d love a new pair of light weight pjs bottoms as all of mine are brushed cotton. I’ve gone for these Marie Heart Print PJ Bottoms (RRP £8) from George at Asda because a) they’re Disney and b) well they’re Disney. I love Disney PJs that I can mix and match with a simple vest. At the moment, The White Pepper is the website I go to when I want to lust over beautiful clothing. Their Vintage range was just perfection, I wish I could have bought it all! But the one thing I really want from The White Pepper is a smock dress, and since i’m obsessed by all things gingham or check, the Blue Check T-Shirt Smock Dress (RRP £55) is perfect! Finally, what wishlist of mine would be complete without a bit of Sugarhill Boutique? The hotel I’m staying in while in NY has a balcony bar where I plan on sitting and drinking a cocktail or two while looking out over Manhattan, the Doris Dress (RRP £39.99) from Scarlett Fashion would be perfect for this, I love the cut and colours of it. So summery!
While i’m away I’m hoping to travel blog from my iPad. A lot of evenings I will be on my own especially in the evening so I would love to be able to write up what I have been up to share some photos with you all. To do that, firstly I need a new case for my iPad as it’s slightly falling apart… I already shared this Anna from Frozen Flip Cover Case (RRP £18.99) on another wishlist, and it’s still something I desperately want. I just love the very simple design and the colour. I’d also need a keyboard for my iPad which appear to be relatively cheap, I’ve gone for this pink one as it looks super cute and girly. Finally I’d need a Camera Connection Kit (RRP £2.99) that would allow me to transfer my photos from my SD card to my iPad. Finally I’d need a keyboard, because blogging on my touch screen is painful. You can easily pick up an iPad Bluetooth Keyboard (£9.79) for around the £10 mark. All the above are available from eBay.
Now, for everything else. The only guide for NYC I currently have is the big one I bought for the first time I was going for my 21st, five years ago now. Having been twice since I think I’m fairly good at navigating myself around so I’d really want a pocket size guide mainly for maps so I don’t get too lost when trying to find the hotel. The DK Eyewitness New York Pocket Map & Guide (RRP £1.99) is perfect and a great price from The Works. I’m hoping if I get myself near a store I could also find one for Toronto! Next up is a new handbag! I have my Cath Kidston backpack as my hand luggage but I never really feel save walking around with a backpack on while on holiday so I’d love a new roomy handbag that will fit my DSLR in a tour guide, purse, phone & anything else I might need. Nica has a fab sale on at the moment and I spotted this gorgeous Lulu Shoulder Bag in black (RRP £27.50) it has a cross the body strap which is vital in any handbag I buy and it looks incredibly roomy. I’m hoping to take some of my statement hair accessories with me over the pond, but I feel like I deserve a new one. I have my eye on this gorgeous Lotta Rosie Headband in Turquoise (RRP £18) from my favourite Crown and Glory. I think the colour will look amazing with my bright red hair and I seem to be planning on taking a lot of blue with me so it would really finish the look. Finally, I have already bought my suncream for my body, but I want extra perfection for my face.. after trying Benefit’s Dream Screen (RRP £25) at a counter in Boots i’m desperate to get hold of a bottle to take with me. I feel like my skin would really benefit from the SPF45! It’s currently on offer at Look Fantastic for £22.50!
Are you like me and like to holiday shop before your holiday? Or are you happy taking what you already have?
