September 2014 Birchbox, First Impressions

This is going to be my last Birchbox for a while. This past week has saw Bee and I start to get serious about our Florida trip and it has really made me think about where my money is going. I have written up a savings plan and so far I’m sticking to it. As of next week all my Christmas shopping will be finished apart from Little Miss’ stocking fillers. Anyway, because I want to have maximum spending money, I have cancelled my Birchbox subscription & my Crown & Glory subscription for the time being (although I have taken out a new one for a couple of months, but it’s £12 odd rather than over £30 on sub boxes). I’m hoping to take them out again after Florida as I have really enjoyed both of them. It’s just the money issue. Which is pretty sad, because this months Birchbox was probably the best so far in my opinion!

The box was aptly named Happy Days for September, I say aptly named because when I opened it, I was incredibly happy.. mainly for one item that I have been hoping for since I opened the subscription as it’s worth more than the whole box! I loved the colour of the box, and design, it has now been promoted to the box where all my Crown & Glory pieces live!

So what did I get this month?

Korres Citrus Shower Gel
“This get-up-and-go citrus body wash helps ensure skin stays hydrated all day long.”

I’ve always been a fan of Korres and this is a very generous sample sized product. It smells very refreshing perfect for a morning shower and will be great to take on holiday. The texture is nice and it leaves me feeling very clean and awake.

Modelco Lip Lacquer in Morocco

“A sumptuous lipgloss that provides long lasting colour and hydration – plus, plenty of shine.”
Usually I’m not a fan at all of lipglosses but when one claims to provide hydration, I’m there. This lip lacquer has a very similar consistency to Rimmel’s Apocalips, which I have to admit are one of my favourite lip products.. instantly making this a winner. I love a lipgloss that looks good with one coat and this is one of those.
Agave Healing Oil Treatment
“A lightweight oil to smooth hair, build resiliency and boost shine and colour.”
As I mention every month, hair products are always welcomed with open arms, especially healing oils as they’re so expensive to buy! I have never heard of Agave but I am thoroughly impressed. The last hair oil I tried left my hair so greasy even with a thorough blow dry, this however is absorbed even when I leave my hair to try naturally, which is amazing!

Benefit It’s Potent! Eye Cream

“Banish dark circles, smooth fine lines and protect against free radicals with this light peptide-packed formula.”
I have had a full pot of this in the past and it’s honestly the best eye cream i’ve tried however with it’s price tag of £25.50, I haven’t been able to afford a new one since I had Little Miss so I was very glad to find this in my box. The texture is wonderful and it really eliminates puffy eyes which due to allergies this is something I suffer from a lot.. and lets not forget those bags under my eyes from never having a lie in, yep.. those are greatly reduced.

Beauty Blender and Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser

“An ingenious egg shaped make up sponge to ensure a flawless base – plus a solid soap to clean it.”

And last but not least… an item worth £26.50… the infamous Beauty Blender! This was one of the main reasons I joined Birchbox in hope that one of my boxes would contain this beauty! And finally, I got it! I love a sponge for applying my foundation and this one is the creme de la creme, costing £16 alone, and £26 with the cleanser which I also received. I haven’t used it yet as I’m still not up to wearing foundation.. but I cannot WAIT to give it a try!

& the little lifestyle extra… Urban Fruit in Mango (which were disgusting, sorry) and a photo clip that now holds a photo taken in the Hard Rock Cafe at Niagara Falls.

A Birchbox subscription costs £12.95 (which includes the postage) and you get a great selection of items to try in decent size sample bottles (or in the case of the Beauty Blender, full size). I will be continuing my subscription and recommending it to anyone who asks about beauty boxes.

Would this box make you want to subscribe to Birchbox?
