The Princess and the Frock Fairytale Collection

At the end of last year, Claire who owns The Princess and the Frock asked if Little Miss could be the face of her new collection that would be launching in the Spring. Having just had LM’s photographs taken professionally for the first time and seeing how at ease she was with it all, I happily agreed.

I want to say that I have never been a mother who pushed for her daughter to do modelling. I personally believe that LM is the most beautiful toddler in the world as that’s my prerogative as a mother. But I won’t lie, I do have that terrible worry that people look at her and don’t see it, hence never entering her into any “beautiful baby” contests, I’d hate for anyone to tell me anything other than what I think. On the other side of the coin, I have never believed in the past that she was ready to deal with something like that, however after both her 15 minute shoot at Christmas, and the one we did with Claire and her daughter, I know it’s something we’d both be happy to do more of in the future.

ANYWAY, now I’ve got the sort of disclaimer out of the way, I want to share some of the photos from the shoot with you. They are wonderful and the way LM behaved and cooperated on the day made the me the proudest mother in the world. She behaved so well for a just three year old! All her poses are her own, the fantastic photographer didn’t ask her to stand in way, she chose to do all this herself.

First up is Belle, this dress is technically named for Claire’s daughter although it is inspired by Belle from the Disney Classic’s iconic gold dress. I’m not usually a fan of yellow (or gold) but I have to admit this dress looks beautiful on the hanger and on LM. It’s 100% cotton, fully lined with a button up back and it’s definitely an every day version of the big puffy dress that would be perfect for dress up play or even as a stand out piece for a birthday girl.

Here we have a Little Bo Peep inspired dress. I can’t wait for LM to wear this in Florida as it’s so different and I like different, I’ve even bought a bonnet shaped sunhat (not like a baby bonnet, if you follow my instagram, you’ll soon see!) The circle skirt is perfect for twirling and as it’s lined with pink it gives the white on the polka dot fabric a pinkish tone in the right light. Like all the dresses it’s made from 100% cotton with buttons up the back and a little white apron.

These photos make me laugh, the first one looks like a school photo and definitely gave me a glimpse into what is sure to be some funny ones over the next few years! So this is the Cinderella dress and I’m sure it’s going to be hugely popular with the release of the new movie, however it’s lighter in colour and is inspired by the original 1950 classic. Like the Bo Peep dress, the skirt is perfect for twirling and would be great for your little one to attend a ball in, or a party. It’s 100% cotton and fully lined, the dress and the overlay are edged with white lace.

Next up we have Sleeping Beauty, which of course doesn’t look like the famous pink or blue dress from the movie. This is because it’s inspired by the Grimm Fairytale of Little Briar Rose. I think this is my reason for loving this dress so much! As an avid fairytale fan it’s completely different from all other “Sleeping Beauty” variants on the market and it would be the most perfect dress for your daughter to wear to a summer wedding, or on holiday, which is when LM will be wearing it. It’s a different design to all the other dresses in the Fairytale collection as it’s ruffled but it’s still 100% cotton and button up back.

Finally we have my absolute favourite dress. Not only is this my favourite dress, but it’s my favourite photo set. By this point LM was fully into the whole modelling thing and she took to moving the cape for photos instantly. The dress comes with the separate cape with hood and is the most perfect little outfit for dressing up and for days like World Book Day. It’s fully lined and the cape is tripped with velvet. The little white apron stands out against the red of the dress. These photos here really show off how great the back drop is with the dresses and Claire is convinced the photo of LM stepping into the mirror puddle could be a movie poster!

All dresses are handmade to order and are available in sizes 0-6 months up to 6-7 years. However I will say Claire is incredibly accommodating and if you need a larger size drop her a line first. Each dress is £39.99.

Little Miss already owns another dress from The Princess and the Frock which is Rapunzel. I had Claire design it for our trip to Disneyland Paris last summer. If you have a fairytale inspired dress in mind that isn’t available on the website (Snow White and Alice in Wonderland are also available on the website) I cannot recommend contacting Claire enough, she’s more than happy to work with you to create something your little girl will love. Not only does she create inspired pieces, she also offers a bespoke service which creates replicas and cosplay outfits. Claire is actually the wonderful lady behind my Ariel Town Dress I wore to LFCC last year!

I have some more photos from the new design day dresses that I will share with you all another day, it features mermaids, frogs and the beautiful Matilda May occasion dress.
