Outfit of the Day – Yumi 30 Days of Summer

Yumi 30 Days of Summer

Today I’m joining in with Yumi 30 Days of Summer. 30 fashion bloggers have been asked to create an outfit using their favourite SS15 pieces from Yumi’s current collection and I’m one of them. What an honour! Yumi has been one of my favourite labels since I was in college (which is coming up 10 years now!) so I was so excited to take part. I’m one of 30 stylish bloggers who have been asked to share their favourite summer Yumi outfit. Every day in July over on the Yumi blog there will be a different fashion blogger sharing their outfit, so make sure you check it out.

So, as you can see above I went for a very summery Yumi outfit. Lets talk about the cardigan, it’s the Yumi Classic Cardigan* RRP £40 and it’s yellow. I have said on many occassions that yellow is my least favourite colour, I never wear it… but here I am.. wearing it and you know what? I love it! I wore it again today with another dress. I don’t know if it’s because it’s lightweight or the cute mismatched buttons which are really me.. it’s just perfect, especially teamed with the Polka Dot Tea Dress in green* RRP £22.50. This dress is the perfect style for me, I love the a tea dress and polka dots are always a winner. Plus it’s in one of my favourite colours. This style dress is a wardrobe staple because it can be worn out in the evening with a pair of heels, or dressed down with trainers or brogues. It’s also flattering on my body shape. When I’m looking for a dress this is always the shape I go for. It can be worn during the winter months with tights or leggings, or in the summer. It’s just a good all rounder and that is an important part of my style. I’m wearing them with a pair of cream frill socks I picked up in Primark before my holiday, and of course, my beloved The Little Mermaid Vans that I blogged about earlier on in the week. They are so comfy and go perfectly with this dress. The frill socks manage to pull the whole outfit together and keep it very feminine looking, something else that is vital part of my own style. To accessorise I’ve gone for a simple Disney Couture “Drink Me” bottle necklace that i’ve had for years but I still love due to the fact it’s so understated. Along with something I was surprised to come across on the Yumi website, a Disaster Designs Foliage Print Case* RRP £28.50. I love Disaster Designs, but what really caught my eye was a deviation of the Tolkien quote “not all those who wander are lost” I won’t lie, I can recite that whole poem and I am considering it for my next tattoo. It’s aptly printed on the front of this case which not only has enough room that it can be used as a clutch (which is how I’m using it) but it works as a travel documents holder. Disaster Designs are known for great quality while still looking quirky.

I think this whole outfit not only sums up my summer style, but my all year around style, which is what is so important to me when choosing clothes. As a mother I don’t get the chance to buy new for every season, I tend to pick up bits that work all year around. My style is quirky, feminine and comfortable as I do spend a lot of time chasing and cuddling a toddler. Yumi is a perfect label for producing pieces that work well for the busy mum who still wants to be able to slip on a pair of heels and lunch with the ladies if the chance arose. Yes I do have some days I laze around in leggings and a baggy jumper like the standard mother I am, but 9/10 I want to look put together and I think this outfit definitely shows that. Even with the Little Mermaid Vans.. because lets face it, I’m never going to grow out of that.

Have you check out the Yumi website yet? What would you go for to make up a staple S/S outfit?
