Sheffield Film and Comicon August 2015

On Saturday I finally went to a convention mainly to cosplay, hooray! It’s the first one of the year but hopefully it won’t be the last one. As Bee and I had such a fantastic time at London Film and Comicon we have been desperate to go to another one but with having such busy lives as well as money and time restraints it hasn’t happened. But trust me when I say, we have big plans for making 2016 the year of all the conventions and cosplay, so stay tuned!

I travelled down to stay over Friday night however we were only attending the con on the Saturday. I’m glad we made that decision because SFCC was a lot smaller than LFCC and really didn’t need more than an afternoon. Saying that however I did feel the fact it was in an arena was a much better set up and it felt so much more organised. I don’t know if that’s because it wasn’t as busy or just because it was actually organised better. Anyway, I had a lot of fun, and although in hindsight I don’t think I looked as good as I thought in my cosplay (anyone want to swap faces?) I felt confident enough to go grab Starbucks in Meadowhall afterwards! I thought i’d share some of the photos I took over the afternoon. I will be doing a whole post dedicated to my Briar Rose cosplay like I did for my Little Mermaid one last year, but the weather needs to improve first!

As usual there were a lot of stalls which aside from cosplay is what I enjoy most about conventions. I ended up buying three Funko Pops, Rapunzel, Gus in the Glass Slipper and Ariel in her town dress. There was so much I could have bought for LM but since i’d already bought her tsum tsums from Clintons I just treated myself. I did see some apparel I liked but it was a little out of my price range. There weren’t any guests I was interested in meeting so at least the autograph temptation wasn’t there as it had been with LFCC.

Kariss also attended with her boyfriend so it was nice to see her too and she made a great Alice in Wonderland. All of our dresses were made by Bee as she’s opening a store on Saturday called Closet Geek. If you sign up to the mailing list now you’ll get an exclusive discount code! We got a lot of attention for our dresses, someone even applauded us for being so on point. It felt great to plug Bee’s store for her. I also had a couple of teary moments when little girls wanted their photos with me because Aurora was their favourite princess.

I’m already thinking which Disney cosplay I want to cross off my list next, because all though I’m not princess pretty there isn’t anything I love more than cosplaying a princess!

Oh, Amy, it’s horrible to hear you put yourself down – you look bloomin’ gorgeous, lady! I reckon children are prone to saying it how it is, so if those little girls wanted to get their photograph with Princess Aurora, then I think that’s reassurance enough that you looked every part the Disney princess!
