Today I am beaming with pride, my best friend finally opened an online store selling her all her handmade geeky things. I’m of course talking about Bee who blogs over at Journeys are my Diary, and her store is called Closet Geek. I’ve been plugging her as much a possible on social media, and even in person last week while at SFCC, because I really am that proud. She’s a complete perfectionist and her biggest critic but watching her confidence grow in projects such as clothes for our kids for when we headed out to Florida, hair bows, pencil cases.. she has been selling her jewellery on Etsy for a while but it’s sewing that I’ve really been behind. She made my Briar Rose dress, her own Belle dress and Kariss Alice dress for SFCC, she made LM’s Pinocchio dress and the Woody dress I featured on my very first Little Miss Cosplays post.
Not only am I so proud of her for finally taking the plunge, but I’m so happy to say I’ve been able to help her in a small way by photographing our girls in the dresses. She travelled up with her girls yesterday and we had a mini photoshoot at my house and it was so much fun. I’m looking forward to doing it again but today I thought i’d take a moment to share with you some of the items now listed on her site as part of her kids clothing range.
Can be customised with sleeves if preferred. I have one of these, and the skirt is so swishy!
One of my absolute favourites, and apparently Ariel herself loved it in WDW!
Little Miss loves Woody but everything is marketed for boys. She LOVES her Woody dress, it’s actually one of her favourites.
You can’t have a Woody without a Buzz. Another huge hit in Disney World.
Finishing off the Toy Story trio is a Jessie inspired dress. Perfect for summer wear.
LM’s latest addition to her cosplay collection, of course she had a meltdown when modelling it. So cute though.
Lets face it, Disgust is everyones favourite because we all relate! I’m so excited Bee has managed to get the material for this one!
These are dresses that were made to go see Inside Out, they showcase two of the styles Bee is able to make with whatever material you can find.
She is happy to take custom orders if you want anything extra special for your little one. I’m pretty sure one particular dress I’ve asked for makes her feel like punching me in the face, especially when we spent an hour or so googling how to make princess cone hats to stick on a hairband to go with this dress. But I have faith since she did an amazing job on LM’s Pinocchio dress! Not only does she offer custom dresses for kids, but she will be happy to discuss adult cosplays if that’s your bag (again, I’m sure some of the things I ask for makes her feel like punching me in the face but hey she hasn’t said no and I have utter confidence in her ability, something she often doesn’t have herself). But seriously, if you have something in mind that isn’t listed, drop her a message at email@example.com and she’ll be so happy to work something out with you (she doesn’t really want to punch me in the face, I just like tulle and a lot of it!) Take my word for it, she’s amazing, and even if she struggles to believe in herself, I believe enough for both of us and that’s why I’m so proud of this huge step she’s taken today.
Aside from all the talk of face punches (it’s okay, even after 10 years it’s still never happened and there have been times when I’ve seriously asked for it!) she’s a truly inspiring lady which is just one ofthe many reasons to stop by Closet Geek today. Another reason is the fact it’s going to be THEE place to pick up your Harry Potter, Disney and many other fandom accessories and fashion. She has so many ideas, and definitely the determination to carry them out when she puts her mind to it. I need to stop buying her stock though, I have four of these beautiful silouette necklaces and i’m currently eyeing up one of the Hermione wand necklaces!
