Walt Disney World April 2015, Day 10 – Magic Kingdom

Well this post is going live as we’re on our way to the airport hotel. How exciting?! I cannot believe it’s 5 & a half months since we last did this, I also can’t believe it’s taken me 5 months to get my full diary up on the blog! But here we are, the last day! On our last day we were supposed to catch the Disney Magical Express to the airport at 2:30 meaning we’d have to leave the park just after 1pm. I knew I’d feel sad missing Festival of Fantasy so our dear friend Mellie took us to the airport just after 4pm, giving us 3 whole extra hours but even with those extra hours, we still had to say goodbye, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.. taking LM away from the place she loved more than anything. But I guess that’s the sad reality of life.

But anyway, here’s what we got up to on our last day at Magic Kingdom.

As I mentioned in my last post, I barely slept that night. The whole thought of going home was weighing me down so I packed and facetimed my mum at 3am. I passed out for a couple of hours before my alarm went off. I carted the bags and Little Miss down to check out and leave our bags before catching the bus to Magic Kingdom for an 8am breakfast at The Crystal Palace. I have to admit, I barely ate but it was magical none the less. Tigger took LM off on a parade around the restaurant which was rather special and she loved every second. I think I cried, but more because it was amazing to see how she’d come out of her shell and to see how much she loved these characters. After we finished breakfast we headed into the park to let LM have a play. We had a FP for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and one to go visit Ariel. Meeting Ariel was quite hilarious. After spending the evening with Lane, LM felt confident enough to explore the grotto and ended up finding a dinglehopper in a chest (aka a plastic fork), Ariel was kind enough to let her keep it. We also rode the teacups and carousel one last time before joining the queue to see Peter Pan. LM excitedly told him all about her dinglehopper. Then we wandered down to Frontierland to meet Woody and Jessie, where we also met up with Mellie, her brother Benji, Alex and Mimi. Little Miss changed into her Bo Peep dress which was a HUGE hit with Woody and Jessie. She was so in love with Woody and ended up sitting on his knee. It was a magical meet and again, I cried. Then it was back to see Peter Pan again.

In the afternoon Mellie took LM to see Cinderella and Rapunzel one last time before meeting us to watch Dream Along with Mickey, then Festival of Fantasy followed by Dream Along with Mickey again. Our time was now growing short and soon LM would realise we were leaving for good so we took her around to see Peter Pan to say goodbye. We ended up recording their meet and it lasted 10 minutes. First she played hide and seek with him, then they talked about LM’s lost girl name before we broke the news we were leaving today. Peter showed LM how to fly and to make sure she had enough pixie dust. I could feel a lump in my throat the whole time and I could see from the look on LM’s face she was pretty upset. As if that wasn’t hard enough, we then said goodbye to Alex and Mimi. This time I did sob and I sobbed all the way out of the park. Mellie took us to the airport, checked us in and then we had Mcdonalds. Then, our final goodbye. Yeah, more tears. I cried on and off all the way home but thankfully LM slept.

On leaving, I had no idea we would be going back so soon. And it’s pathetic really to write just how sad I was to leave. It was so much harder than when I used to leave as a kid because this was the first time I had to really break LM’s heart. She fell in love with the place just as I had done many years before. She feels at home there and talks about her adventures all the time. Peter is still her boyfriend and Daphne is still her best friend. On Saturday morning when we step through those gates, we’ll be home.
