We all love to glam it up and if you have big plans that involve a slinky dress and your favourite heels, then top off your outfit with an elegant hairstyle that’s sure to impress everyone you see! I asked Yen Hair in Solihul about two of the most popular at the moment.
There’s something about the classic waves of the 1940s that never go out of style. Miranda Kerr knows this; she frequently rocks the genteel waves of that fashion forward era. Start with some protective smoothing serum and set your hair using hot rollers. The bigger the roller, the looser your waves will be. If you want pincurls, definitely don’t use the big chubby rollers! Remove the rollers after the rollers themselves and your hair have cooled. When you let it down, your hair will fall in voluminous and classy waves. Part it how you like it and then comb and tease the hair at your crown. When it’s as big as you want, set it with a lightweight hairspray.
Modern Family‘s Sarah Hyland has carried out the ballet bun in a mature but still youthful manner by making it wispy and fun. The severe look of a traditional ballet bun can be a bit extreme on most faces, so try to make it a bit more casual by getting plenty of volume in your hair before you start. Blow dry your hair with a round brush and give the roots and ends lots of lift. when you twist it up into the bun, leave some stray pieces out to frame your face. Keep your hair soft when you pull it back. Too sharp of a look will age you.
Braids of any kind are totally in this year! If you aren’t sure what to do with your hair for the big party, then just throw a braid in somewhere! The classic milkmaid braid is a fun and easy look. If you’re worried about it looking a little juvenile, take a page from Zoe Saldana’s book and set the braid back closer to the crown of your head. It will instantly look more mature. When you have really long hair, the options are endless. You can keep it simple by doing a simple side braid with your hair and then wrapping it around the back of your head and securing it with bobby pins. Keep the braid loose. If your hair is wavy beforehand, your look will actually simultaneously look more polished and carefree.
When you need hair inspiration, you just need to look to the stars. With a little product and the right tools, you’ll feel as glamourous as Taylor Swift on the red carpet.
