A Disneybound Wishlist

I can officially say I’m off to Florida next month! Boy, that’s come around fast! For me, that means time to seriously think about packing and what I’m going to take. As I’m going to be spending at leats half of our trip at Walt Disney World, I obviously want to put together some Disney related outfits. Nothing too over the top as most of the time I’ll be with other mothers who don’t do that, or cast members who are there all the time. I plan on doing a full 2 weeks of Disneybounds in October anyway.

So, what is a Disneybound? Lesie Key, the woman who coined the phrase explains in this interview but if you want a quick answer, here is what she has to say;

DisneyBounding is a way for teenagers and adults to show their love and appreciation for Disney and play dress up without actually wearing a costume so it takes trendy clothes and bases the outfits after Disney characters.

Some of my friends do it quite frequently, and I really enjoy trying to guess who their outfit is inspired by. It’s the only way to now dress up at Disney parks since they brought in the no costumes rule (even at Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween party BOO HISS) at the end of last year after some safety issues. But lets not get into that as I still get upset that I can’t do Ariel and Melody at this years party.

So using some beautiful dresses from Vivien of Holloway (because lets face it, that’s as close as I can get to a Princess style dress at WDW these days) I’ve come up with three Disneybounds to get me started.

The dresses in all three bounds are from Vivien of Holloway as I think they have the right amount of skirt to give them that princess feel without being full length (something that is on the no no list). These would all be perfect for Dapper Day as they have that 50s style which is eponymous with the Dapper Days Disney parks run twice a year.

For the Live Action Cinderella bound I have gone for the Ivy lace dress in powder blue as it really strikes me as that famous gown from last years remake of the animated classic. Because the dress in the movie is adored with butterflies I’ve gone for a novelty butterfly bag from ASOS and a flower crown that pulls on the colours used in the embellishments on the dress. I’ve finished the look off with a pair of sparkly slippers as it wouldn’t be a Cinderella inspired outfit without some magic sparkly slippers.

Second up, and possibly my favourite, I’ve created a Disneybound inspired by my favourite princess role model, Tiana. The dress is the daisy gingham dress as it reminds me of a modern version of the dress she wears in the parks. Of course a Tiana bound needs a beautiful flower hair accessory and I’ve chosen this cascading orchid clip that will match the dress in the most beautiful way. I’ve gone for some practical gladiator sandals for the feet and the look wouldn’t be complete with a the Panadora frog charm on a bracelet!

The final outfit I’ve put together is based on Princess Aurora, but her blue address which is so often forgotten these days (yet she wears it for longer in the movie!) The dress is the duchess dress, which certainly is a colour fit for royality. To go with it I found this AMAZING gold choker that a lot like the one from the movie and a gold rose crown, so fitting since Aurora also goes by Briar Rose. To finish off the whole look, I’ve gone for some gold pumps as the most important thing about doing a Disneybound in the theme parks is to wear comfortable shoes!

If you could Disneybound as anyone, who would you choose?
