At the moment all Little Miss wants to sing are the Christmas songs from her nativity. It’s so cute and it’s really helping lift my Christmas spirits. This singing is what has inspired today’s Blogmas post. I’m going to share my 5 favourite Christmas songs.

Lets face it, there really is only a few good Christmas songs it’s mainly about whos version you like better! So these are my 5 favourite Christmas songs;

Driving Home for Christmas – Chris Rea
This song will always remind me of my Dad and thats probably why it’s special. My dad works away from home and growing up he usually didn’t get finished until Christmas eve. He’d call on Christmas Eve morning and tell us he was driving home for Christmas and he’d see us soon. Even now when I listen to it, it reminds me of those Christmas eves from my childhood, waiting on Dad to get home to really get into the swing of things.

Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – Leighton Meester
If you haven’t listened to this version of the song go to YouTube now. I love Leighton Meester’s voice on this track and although when I listened to it for the first time I was getting ready for my first Christmas alone in 4 years so I sat on my bedroom floor and cried.. now I listen to it and just enjoy it for what it is.

All I Want for Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey
Kid playing the drums in Love Actually? Actually the sweetest thing ever and that’s what reminds me of this song. Not only that but it’s crazy catchy. I’m not sure how much my boyfriend would appreciate me reciting the lyrics to him but lets face it, the sentiment is nice.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas – Michael Buble
I couldn’t have a favourite Christmas songs list and not include Michael Buble, lets face it, the memes that go along with it are just too funny. My favourite Buble version of a classic is this. I don’t know, there is just something about the way he sings it.

Fairytale of New York – The Pogues & Kirsty McCall
Of course this made my list. I’ve loved it since I was a child as it’s my dad’s favourite Christmas song. It’s just original and such fun to sing especially when drunk. I look forward to hearing my cousin have a bash at it in the pub on New Years Day!

Geerooz have put together an infographic about the changing look of music. It’s well worth a read.
