Beating the January Blues with a Perfect Spa Day*

I really really struggle with January, not only is it a long depressing month where it’s really cold and money is tight but everyone is feeling flat after Christmas. I also struggle with anxiety at the start of the year which I blogged about as the next 12 months feel daunting. I know I shouldn’t hate January as much as I do because Little Miss has her birthday but still, it doesn’t stop how I feel both mentally and physically the other 30 days of the month!

This year we got lucky and headed off to Disneyland Paris for 3 days, but now that I’m back I feel flatter than ever! However I know what would really cheer me up.. a spa day.

For my sister’s Christmas I bought her a spa afternoon voucher and my parents are really into spa trips having had one the end of last year, but as of yet, I’ve not had one! So here is my idea of a perfect spa day;

Where
Disney! I know that must sound incredibly strange but in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris there are Spa facilities. In Florida the best place would be the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (see, it’s even in the name!) and at Disneyland Paris they’re available in the Disneyland Hotel. Normally I never have any time for spa treatments but it’s probably the time I need them most with all the running around I do!

Who With
I’d be torn. I would love to take my mum to a fancy spa and pay but I would also love to go with a bunch of female friends. Like they do in the movies. Maybe as a hen weekend, not that I ever expect to get married these days. Definitely need to be the kind of females that would find it funny to all be walking around in matching robes and wearing face masks. I think that’s probably what would put me off going with my mum, we just don’t have that sort of relationship, we’re both too private!

What Treatments
I once had a massage and I have to admit during it I felt so anxious having someone touch all my lumps and bumps and despite feeling great afterwards it isn’t something I’d go for again. I would love a facial, especially one where they recommend you products afterwards because my skin is always a mess. I also think I’d really like the ones where you get to lie in a mud bath or any hot bath really. I’d definitely be there for things like the steam room and jacuzzi. Anything where I felt warm and could wrap myself in those pristine white robes afterwards.

Anything Else
Of course they would have to serve macarons and bubbly. There was a Gossip Girl episode where Serena and Blair sat in the bath eating macarons and drinking bubbly and I have always wanted to do that and imagine doing it in a fancy spa? Just perfect. After the spa treatments though I’d love a French inspired feast with pastries and patisserie, cheese, fresh bread all served by incredibly attractive men in suits. A girl can dream, huh?

Of course, until then I could throw my own spa day with my girls. I could get macarons and bubbly, but probably not the Disney hotel and definitely not the bath tub full of mud. However I could pick up some great wholesale beauty products from Ellisons that would definitely give my own home the spa feel. I could even make up goody bags! That could be something on the cards for 2017!

What would be your perfect spa day?
