Lelli Kelly School Shoes at Jake Shoes Review

I can’t believe we’re almost half way through Little Miss’ last term of her first year at school. Although I’m so excited that I’ll have her off for a whole 6 weeks, I know during that time I’ll have to think about buying her new school uniform during that time. A stress and expense every parent dreads! At the moment with Little Miss being in the lower end of school the only thing I need to get that’s branded is her school jumper or cardigan, everything else can be unbranded which does save money. However LM does so much crafting at school I need to have at least 3 cardigans, 3 pinafores and a different t-shirt for every single day. Then there are tights, socks, PE kit, a new lunch bag and backpack. Most of that comes from the supermarket, but something I make sure I invest in is a pair of good school shoes that will last her the whole year. And if you ask LM what school shoes she wants, only one brand springs to mind, Lelli Kelly.

If your kid watches TV you’ll have probably seen them advertised. Because LM sure has and this year we’ve been lucky enough to receive a pair to review that will be perfect for school next year.

Lelli Kelly Heart Bar School Shoes in Black* RRP £49.99 from Jake Shoes
When you think of Lelli Kelly you think of the shoes of young girls fantasy. Pink, patterned, beaded and glitter with exchangeable parts or some other gimmick. In fact I had no idea they did any practical sort of shoes that would be suitable for a 5 year old to wear to school. Don’t get me wrong, I love the patterned pairs. They even do a pair with cupcakes on which particularly peaked LM’s interest. And the pairs currently being advertised between shows on Pop and Disney channel even come with a wand! What little girl wouldn’t want to work a pair of those? However Jake Shoes were kind enough to send us a pair that are perfect for school and thankfully because they came in a rose patterned box and bare the name of Lelli Kelly, LM was overjoyed! Finally, she had her dream shoes.

Although the shoes may be perfectly practical, they still came with the array of extras that Lelli Kelly is famous for. A couple of make up sets and a fragrance spray, all of which I have confiscated until I can trust LM won’t attempt to beautify any of her dolls. Had she been older I think they would have been a fantastic way to introduce her to the world of beauty and I can see them appealing to kids of about 8 or 9. They’re a great extra and a nice treat, especially if you know your daughter won’t be wearing her new shoes for a few months yet (LM it particularly upset by this!)

The shoes themselves come in either matte or patent. I went for matte as LM is terrible for scuffing her toes and matte is easier to buff out when this inevitably happens. The pattern is very simple, hearts and stars with a few well placed diamontes. I personally love them and how practical are but still feel like a pair of shoes for a fabulous girl. The Lelli Kelly name is embroidered across the strap. They’re velcro fastening as LM isn’t quite up to buckles yet and they feel incredibly soft with quite a thick sole. I don’t think we’ll have any problem with blisters when it comes to wearing them for 6 hours a day. They’re incredibly well made and I feel they’ll last the year (she wears boots in the height of winter so one pair of school shoes last through the Autumn, Spring and Summer months). They range from sizes 8 to 2.5, yes they come in half sizes which is something I love! LM has small narrow feet so the half size makes all the difference in comfort for her. They’re priced at £49.99 and yes in part you are paying for the name, but with Lelli Kelly you also get quality. Her shoes last year cost £40 and the weren’t branded. If you’re looking for a good pair of school shoes you expect to pay more and these are no different.

Prior to working with Jake Shoes, I had never heard to them but from now on they’ll be my go to for brands, especially for Little Miss. The prices are great, the sales even better and the service is impeccable. Now to just stop myself from buying a play pair of Lelli Kellys for Little Miss to wear this summer!
