5 Fun Things We Did in London, May 2017

The weekend before we headed off to Disneyland Paris for a few days, Little Miss and I spent some time in London. This is the second time this year we’ve spent time in our capital city and I think LM loves it more with each visit. This time we had Saturday, Sunday and Monday there and although some of our time was spent with friends, we did have some time to please ourselves and explore. I’m hoping to head back during the summer to do some more exploring.

Today I’m sharing 5 of the things we got up to during our visit this time, it seemed better than doing a diary.

Attended MCM Comic Con
I crossed something off my 30 Before 30 list! I took LM to her first convention! On 27th May we attended MCM Comic Con in London with my bestie Bee and her family in honour of her birthday on the 28th. The girls all dressed up in Closet Geek creations as characters from Alice in Wonderland. LM posed for a few photos and we wandered around the stalls. I feel like now we’ve done one we’ll be more clued up for the next one we went to, LM really enjoyed it (mainly the attention) and has already been asking to go to another one!

Went to Shake Shack
Last time we were in London the queue for Shake Shack was huge and we didn’t get to go, this time there was next to two queue on the Sunday so we stopped for their frozen custard ice cream! I had a root beer float and LM had a tub of ice cream while we sheltered from the rain in Covent Garden market. There were live music and it was a great atmosphere. I hope we get back to try the food soon!

Visited the British Museum
LM is just getting to the age where she enjoys exploring museums. So when the weather was uncertain on the 28th we visited the British Museum near Russel Square. It probably wasn’t the most child friendly museum but we definitely made the best of it. LM enjoyed the Egyptian rooms and had a lot of questions. She was quite in awe and I can’t wait to go back when she starts learning about it in school. Next time we’ll trying the Science Museum or the Natural History Museum.

Explored Kensington Garden & Hyde Park
When we met up with our friend we did a huge loop of the park. It was my first time to Kensington Garden and Hyde Park and they’re huge! I did love it but probably not as much as Central Park. The highlight of course was finding the Peter Pan statue. It did make me laugh that you could get a call from him and hear his voice. We were with a Peter Pan pro though which resulted in us laughing hard at the terrible commentary.

Played at the Princess Diana Memorial Park
Finally, as the weather was pretty nice in the afternoon LM spent ages playing in the Princess Diana Memorial Park which is inspired by JM Barrie’s stories. There was a huge wooden ship to explore, an Indian encampment, a lost boy village and a musical garden. We even ate lunch there as they had a really well priced cafe and some clean toilets. I’m sure this is our favourite place in London.

Of course we did some sight seeing too and LM saw Picadilly Circus and Leicester Square to add to the fact she’s been to Big Ben and seen the London Eye on our last trip. We also ate dinner in Notting Hill on our last night and we shopped in Primark on Oxford Street. I’m glad she’s finally of the age where we can explore cities without her getting bored. Here’s to many more adventures enjoying places closer to home!
