Happy Halloween 2017

For the past three years my parents have thrown a Halloween party for the 6 of us, it might seem a little lame but it’s always so much fun and just one of the reasons that despite the hard time, I love my family. For the past two years we’ve been required to dress up, which just adds to the hilarious. There is food, games, and movies to really get us into the Halloween spirit. Although Halloween night isn’t until Tuesday we had the party this afternoon as the kids, my mum and sister are back to work tomorrow. We’ll take the kids trick or treating on the 31st and then on Wednesday LM has her school Halloween disco so it’s going to be a pretty busy week! I feel like we’re all ready for the for the festivities after today!

To help us get ready for our party HMV sent a pumpkin shaped bucket with two spooky DVDs in it to help us celebrate. There was also candy, make up and decorations. In among the eating and game playing we managed to watch the movies, it was the first time the kids had seen either.

We headed down to my parents for 1pm and of course the afternoon started with photos. My parents were a spooky bride and groom, my sister was a pirate, my nephew was a skellington, Little Miss was a cat and I was my childhood hero, Wednesday Addams (while watching the movie I knew all her iconic lines from over watching the movies as a kid). This was followed by a delicious feast my mum put together from bits they’d picked up at Tesco in their Halloween section. My favourites were the “witches fingers” that were really mozzarella sticks with tomato centres and the garlic tear and share was really good too!

After finishing food we moved onto party games. One of the items in the pumpkin bucket was pin the smiley on the skeleton which was a huge hit and LM even one, but this was probably to do with the fact it was a perfect height for her. Then we headed outside for pumpkin piñata which was hilarious but total carnage. My nephew ended up breaking it open and therefore one. The kids were so hyped that by the time we got to eyeball egg and spoon it as getting dangerous so my mum suggested we settle down for a movie. My nephew picked Casper which ended up being a big hit with LM, because lets face it, she’d befriend a ghost. We followed it up with Addams Family Values, having already watched the first movie a few days ago.

We ended the day with more food and a round of “dumping” for apples as the kids call it and more food. It was probably our best Halloween party so far, everyone was definitely in good spirits. It’s one of our favourite times of year, maybe one time we could all do a group costume. That would be fun!

Some items featured were gifted to us to use in exchange for a post.
