What I’ll Be Watching on Netflix This Summer*

It’s been so long since I did a TV post, right? But with the summer starting in just under two weeks I’ll have much more free time while I’m not tied to the school run which means later nights for binge watching. At the moment I’m simply watching old Parks & Recreation (not on Netflix sadly) repeats purely for white noise until I fall asleep. I do, however, have a list of programs on Netflix I want to watch to really make the most of my subscription and that’s what I’m sharing with you today.

I’m really lucky my dad has helped me link up my Netflix account to my TV as I currently don’t own a Smart TV. If you’re shopping for a new TV this summer be sure to check out the range of HD Televisions by Panasonic.

So, what’s on my Netflix watch list for the summer;

Glow
One of my really good friends has raved about this show since the first season aired last year. I’m not a huge fan of 80s themed shows or movies, I liked 80s stuff from the 80s, but when a show tries to recapture that it always ends up cheesy, in a bad way. However with season 2 now out it gives me enough episodes to binge watch over the course of a week so I’ll be giving it a try. Plus it stars Alison Brie so it’ll psych me up for the return of BoJack Horseman in September (you should also check out that show on Netflix).

Daredevil
The first series of Jessica Jones is one of the best Marvel creations ever (sadly the second series just wasn’t as good). Jessica Jones also appears in The Defenders, which I also enjoyed and brought together Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron First and Daredevil. Since I watched that series I’ve wanted more Daredevil because it’s Charlie Cox and I’ve loved him since Stardust. I’ve put off watching it though as i’ve heard it’s just not as good as JJ, and since I struggled through Luke Cage I’ve been reluctant to try the shows for any of the other Defenders. But we’ll see how we go with Daredevil this summer.

Good Girls
I’ve seen a few comments on social media about how good this series is so I thought i’d check it out. Season 1 is compiled of 10 episodes and from what I can see it’s about three mothers orchestrating a robbery at a grocery store to avoid financial ruin. I wasn’t totally sold on that, I am a good girl, and crime doesn’t pay! However it stars Mae Whitman (voice of Tinker Bell and star of The Duff, one of my favourite teen movies), Christina Hendricks and Retta (Donna from Parks and Rec), the cast alone makes me want to give it ago! It’ll probably be the first show I do start watching this summer because I’m so intrigued!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
One of my besties loves Brooklyn Nine-Nine and always talks about it so it’s been on my radar for a while but I just never invested time in it (I picked to watch Jane the Virgin on my last series binge and have no regrets!) But with it almost being cancelled I thought I should finally give it ago. It stars Andy Samberg and I love him in pretty much everything he does, and The Lonely Island just reminds me of that time I spent living with my besties post uni-pre LM. I’m much more into comedy than I am into anything else, especially in the evening when I’m on my own.

RuPauls Drag Race (season 8-10)
Not really a new show since I watched season 1-7 last year but after how much I didn’t enjoy season 7 I gave myself a break. I noticed last night that seasons 8-10 are now on Netflix so hopefully I can catch up. I love RuPauls drag race, it’s so savage and addictive, I get so heavily invested in it that I don’t even think I could watch it as it airs.

If you need some more ideas for programs to watch on Netflix over the summer I did a post of 9 shows I have loved (and a lot of them I have even rewatched since that post went live).

What is your favourite thing to watch on Netflix? I’m always looking for new suggestions!
