Shopping Spotlight – Vintage Light Jewelry

Instagram really is a wonderful piece of social media. In fact it’s my favourite as I’m a very visual person. What I love the most is how many friends, and small businesses it’s introduced me to over the years, specifically the last year. One of these is an American based artist called Jodi, and her store Vintage Light Jewelry. I’ve been following and talking to her on Instagram for quite a while but it’s only in the last month did I manage to get ahold of one of her beautiful pieces, well two of her pieces as she sent something for Little Miss too!

Last year Jodi started making beautiful handpainted mickey ear necklaces. She even makes the ear shapes herself. She started off with princesses and I was desperate for either Ariel or Rapunzel but they always sold out so fast! This time she told me in advance that she would be making a Peter Pan inspired set and she offered to send me one for postage. I graciously accepted and excitedly awaited my package.

Peter Pan Inspired Ears Necklace* (similar here) & Pixie Dust Vial Necklace* (similar here)

I wasn’t disappointed when it arrived. Everything was beautifully wrapped and presented. The box they came in was stamped and the attention to detail down to the green tissue paper was just perfect.

The ears themselves come on a gold chain and as I mentioned above, are handpainted. The water colour affect really looks beautiful and each pair are embelished with a bow. The Peter Pan ears have a green bow with a red feather so there is no mistaking who these are inspired by. The ears feel very well made and I don’t worry at all about them breaking while I wear them despite the legs being rather thin. I was shocked to find out they’re made out of polymer clay, they just seem so delicate and they have been glazed to strength them. They’re about 3cms by 3cms at their widest points so they aren’t chunky and they hang on an 18 inch chain. I’m completely over the moon with them, I love wearing little discrete nods to Disney every day so these are perfect.

Jodi was kind enough to include a vial of pixie dust necklace, similar to this one she has listed on the store. LM was overjoyed with it and it was an incredibly kind extra. I love the idea of the pixie dust vial and it would be perfect for a Tinkerbell bound.

For the handmade necklaces such as the ears you’re looking to pay a little bit more but I do feel they’re worth it as they are so orginal. The shipping to the UK is very reasonable and Jodi is happy to mark the parcel as gift so you don’t get hit with the custom charges.

I cannot wait to wear my necklace to a Disney park, not all ears need to go on your head!
