Betty Spaghetty Mix Match Style Doll Review

Twenty years ago Betty Spaghetty was a huge hit of a toy with my little sister and her cousin and I have to admit she wasn’t one I ever saw making her a come back due to being.. well just being so 90s. With her jelly band material hair, the beads and brightly coloured clothes, she really was the epitome of a 90s toy and Little Miss does enjoy playing with the box of dolls that belonged to her Aunts, but never did I ever see her owning one! But hey, guess what she does, and I’m here to tell you all about Betty.

Have you heard about Betty? Betty Spaghetty!

I can still hear the catchy jingle that went along with the 90s tv advert, like I said my sister was a huge fan. And now Betty is bake with a face lift. She now has a distinguishable nose and her features are softer now rather than the vibrant, in your face ones that seemed very Harajuku in hindsight. In fact her whole look was very Harajuku, and even now it hasn’t changed much, although I do feel her leaning towards to Kawaii crowd now. Her outfit isn’t as bright, it’s a mixture of pinks with white gloves and ribbons up her legs. Little Miss’ Betty Spaghetty is Princess Betty although in my opinion she looks more like she’s going to audition for a role in Swan Lake.

Princess Betty Mix Match Style doll* comes with two outfits, some beads and a couple of hair elastics as well as a stand which is helpful when it comes to styling her hair. I do find her hair a bit harder than the older dolls but it could be because she’s new. I do think it’s a lot easier to change her clothes these days and her legs and arms seem to lock in better. The single doll set that little miss received is priced at £9.99 which I do think is good value for money as you get a second outfit, however with no change or arms, legs and hair it is limited to what you can do.

For Little Miss, who is four, this is a great toy. It’s bright, colourful and it appeals to her. She enjoys taking her apart and putting her back together and although she gets frustrated at times trying to do her hair, the usage of beads is great for her hand eye coordination. I think Betty Spaghetty is a toy I could see multiplying in our house so she has more outfits and other dolls to play with. Although as you can see, she’s quite happy with the one she has now. Princess Betty couldn’t be a better doll for her to receive to start her collection.
